Friends debating the route

Pulenaz packs for a stroll

Pulenaz’s walking sketch begins with an invitation to take a short stroll. The other walker arrives with an enormous bag, produces a second layer for a patch of cloud and treats a quick stop for coffee as a scheduled expedition break. Pulenaz’s increasingly patient reaction gives the scene its pace.

The joke keeps the outing recognizably small. Every addition to the plan makes the gap between the proposed walk and the preparations a little wider, until the group is still discussing equipment at the door.

The prepared friend then produces a route card for the walk to the café, including a scheduled break halfway down the block. Pulenaz points out that the café is already visible from the doorway. The friend moves the break to the café itself and solemnly checks it off before anyone has left.

Hayley Morris and the route debate

Hayley Morris plays the friends who disagree over which way to go. One wants the direct road, another insists that the longer path has a better view, and a third keeps turning the map to match whichever direction she is facing. The scene works through quick switches in voice and expression as the walkers debate a junction they have not yet reached.

This is a different joke from overpacking. The friends have already agreed to go out; choosing between two plausible routes becomes the obstacle. The competing definitions of best route give each character a reason to keep arguing.

At the junction, the direct-route friend announces that the debate has taken longer than either route would have. The scenic-route friend agrees to the direct way, only to discover that the map has been upside down. The third friend turns it around and the group begins discussing the same two options under opposite names.

What makes the scenes work

Both sketches begin with a task that should be easy to start. Pulenaz lets a pile of equipment delay the departure; Morris lets a group conversation expand until the decision itself takes over. The first is a visual escalation, while the second depends on the changing alliances between friends.

Neither scene needs a distant mountain or a complicated plot. A doorway and an ordinary turning give the performers enough to make the walk feel much bigger than it is.

For a short visual sketch, start with Pulenaz: the growing bag supplies the joke before the route card lands. For character comedy, Morris’s argument gives each friend a different priority and lets the map reversal change who thinks she has won.
