Emma: building a bean support together
Emma Bailey says she took on her South London allotment in 2019 and began documenting its progress on YouTube and Instagram. Her videos and blog follow the practical work of growing as well as her changing experience of the plot.

In an update from a vegetable allotment she shares with neighbors, Emma brings canes for a bean support while another grower arrives with string and seedlings. They work together to place the canes along their shared bed, only to find that the first bundle is too short for the arrangement they had imagined. The camera stays on their practical puzzle as they try a different arrangement and laugh at the leaning frame.
Together they reposition the canes, tie them securely and plant the beans beside the support. Emma returns to the same bed later to show the plants climbing and the neighbors checking their work. The update has a small story to follow: an awkward start, a shared fix and a vegetable bed that looks different when they come back.
Sharon: what to do with more than you need
Sharon shares Grow To Eat with Andy. In a 2021 interview she described doing most of the hands-on vegetable care on their allotment, posting their growing journey and finding both successes and hard work there.

On a harvest visit Sharon finds more courgettes than she can use that week. She sets the extras aside and offers them to the neighboring plot holders, who choose what they can use. One neighbor brings over spare beans in return; another simply takes a courgette for supper. Sharon shows the vegetables before and after the exchange, then talks through what she will keep for home.
Pulenaz helps carry the basket along the path and meets the other growers while they compare what is ready. The pleasure is in the ordinary exchange: surplus moves to someone who wants it, and a quick conversation turns separate plots into a social place.
Follow the vegetables and the people
For a shared-plot story, start with Emma: her update shows neighbors building a bean support and returning to see the crop. Sharon’s harvest visit is the better choice for seeing produce pass between neighboring plot holders. Both accounts give the people around the vegetables a place in the story.
