Pulenaz: hiking preparation within a week
After a mostly indoor winter, Pulenaz begins with a 30-minute local walk on Tuesday and a 45-minute walk on Saturday. Two weeks later she walks for 40 minutes on Tuesday, takes a 30-minute hillier route on Thursday and spends 90 minutes out on Saturday. Those walks fit around the week while leaving the weekend for a longer outing.
She uses the small holiday day bag on the Saturday walk. After stopping to search for her rain layer, she puts it above lunch for the next outing. Her holiday plan combines shorter days with a longer route, so she compares both the short weekday walks and the longer outing with what she expects to do.
Miranda: building up to a heavier pack
Miranda Goes Outside starts her pack practice on a familiar path with 5 kilograms for 45 minutes, including the bag, water and a rain layer. On the next outing she adds food and a sleeping bag for 8 kilograms and walks for 75 minutes. Later she includes a tent and stove, bringing the packed total to 12 kilograms for a two-hour walk.
After the 8-kilogram outing she moves the sleeping bag lower in the pack and keeps water in a side pocket. On the final walk she shows the loaded bag and explains the change, then checks how the arrangement feels after the longer outing. The series shows the weight and walking time together; either number alone would leave out part of the comparison.
Matching practice to the trip
Pulenaz's week is organized around a day-hike bag and a holiday with different lengths of walk. Miranda's progression addresses a heavier overnight load, adding identifiable equipment rather than simply calling the final pack heavy.
Their records make different choices visible: Pulenaz moves a rain layer so it is easy to reach, while Miranda changes where the sleeping bag and water sit. Both return to the same bag on a later walk to see how the change works.
