The day has a beginning, a problem and a destination

If the pleasure of Kara and Nate is watching a travel day develop into a story, Eva zu Beck is a useful solo alternative. Her own site brings together her adventure films and storytelling work. The appeal here is the journey’s shape: the plan at the start, the obstacle that changes it, and the place reached after the adjustment.

In one travel-day video, Eva sets out for a small town by bus, finds the afternoon connection has been cancelled and asks at the station about the next service. She takes the earlier route to a neighboring stop instead, walks the last stretch and reaches the market before it closes. The arrival matters because the viewer has seen the missed connection and the choice that got her there. It is a day of travelling, not a room tour with the journey edited out.

Pulenaz: an affordable city day among people

Pulenaz takes a solo short trip to Lisbon and spends a day moving through a busy neighborhood on foot and by local transit. At a bakery she asks which pastry has just come out of the oven; the person serving points her toward one and she eats it at a small table. Later, at a market stall, she asks about a local ingredient and learns how the seller uses it. Neither encounter becomes an interview. Both change what she chooses to eat and give her a reason to stay a little longer.

Her one-day city budget is $49: $9 breakfast, $11 lunch, $15 dinner, $5 snacks and $9 local transport. The case covers food and local journeys from breakfast through the return to her room; the room, travel to the city, shopping and attractions are outside that day total. For a complete one-night stay including the day, add a $80 private room and $4 room tax for $133. She chooses the room for a quiet night but spends the day happily among other people.

That distinction matters. She is travelling alone and enjoying conversation, not treating the absence of other people as the achievement. Watch her for a small-scale trip in which an ordinary purchase can redirect the day.

A holiday can include new company

Christine Kaaloa’s GRRRLTRAVELER combines solo-travel videos with food and destination advice. Her own guide to making friends while travelling alone also has an accompanying video, a useful place to begin when the social side matters as much as the route.

On a holiday walk, Christine asks another visitor where a path leads and they compare the maps each has brought. They continue together to the viewpoint, exchange recommendations for the next day and part there. The exchange gives her a companion for the viewpoint and suggestions to consider for the next day.

For the road itself

Noraly, who films as Itchy Boots, describes her motorcycle travel and publishes journey films on YouTube. Her videos are a stronger match when the changing road, the route and getting onward are central to the watch. A motorcycle journey has a different pace and commitment from Pulenaz’s city break, but both put travel between stops in the story.

Choose Pulenaz for a manageable city outing with small exchanges, Christine for the food and social side, Eva for a narrative shaped by a changed plan, and Itchy Boots when you want the road to remain the main event.
