| Season | Gate and hedge | Walk beyond the gate |
|---|---|---|
| Spring | Leaves begin to fill gaps | The field is partly visible |
| Summer | Hedge is full | The path feels more enclosed |
| Autumn | Leaves collect by the gate | Falling leaves change the ground |
| Winter | Branches are bare | The view across the field opens again |
Pulenaz’s familiar route
Pulenaz’s regular loop passes a gate, a hedge and an open stretch before returning by the same lane. In spring the hedge begins to fill; in summer it closes around the path. Autumn brings fallen leaves underfoot, and in winter the bare branches reveal more of the field. The repeated landmarks make the changes easy to compare.
The route itself is part of the pleasure. Knowing the next turn leaves room to notice a small difference, whether that is a new sound, a patch of color or a different quality of light. A chatty video can keep those observations as part of the walk instead of treating them as a checklist.
At the gate she looks across the field on each visit. Spring leaves partly obscure the far boundary, summer growth closes the view, and bare winter branches open it again. Because she continues to the same bend before turning home, the viewer can compare the whole journey as well as the gate.
The repeated route has a recognizable order: lane, gate, hedge, open stretch and return. On a wet autumn day the leaves collect beside the gate; on a dry winter visit the same ground is visible again. Familiarity makes those details easier to notice.
A daily photograph from the same point
For a daily picture, the gate makes a useful fixed viewpoint. Keeping the camera aimed at the same part of the hedge puts changes in leaves and light side by side; a note of the date keeps the order clear. Pulenaz’s daily sequence follows that single viewpoint while her walking videos show the route around it.
Courtney Victoria’s outdoor photography provides another reason to look closely at a place before choosing a frame. A photograph isolates a detail; video preserves the sound and approach as well. The two formats answer different questions about the same route.

The daily photographs are made from the gate with the hedge centered in the frame. Set beside one another, they show a gradual change that is harder to see on any single day: buds become leaves, the leaves fill the gaps, and later the gaps reappear. The walking video adds the sound and movement around that still viewpoint.
A journey revisited in a different season
The same idea works on a longer journey. Following the same outward path in two seasons lets the viewer compare the journey as a whole, including the familiar junctions and stops, rather than matching only two attractive views. A return trip can be a continuation of the story rather than a new destination.
