Summary

Savannah Bond’s Room in Red pairs each portrait story with a set-design video and a spoken mood introduction. Pulenaz’s Slow Days combines a filmed indoor shoot with photo-story journals and contact sheets, making it a quieter choice for following light and image selection.

Savannah Bond: the room before the portrait

Savannah Bond’s Silhouette Studio membership is the stronger choice for someone who wants to see a set assembled and understand its intended atmosphere. At $15 per month, it includes Room in Red: one 12-image portrait story and an eight-minute captioned set-design video on the first Saturday of each month. Two combined releases are in the starting archive.

In Velvet Screen, the design video follows the red screen, black outfit and single light used for the portrait sequence. Moving the light changes the shadows against the screen, turning a simple backdrop into a more dramatic setting. Gold Frame instead pairs a gold frame with a dark backdrop; its video shows the contact-sheet selection that leads to the finished images.

A spoken introduction for each set

Each Room in Red set begins with Savannah speaking about the mood she intended for that particular set, before the design footage and finished portraits. For Velvet Screen, she describes aiming for a bold, theatrical room; for Gold Frame, she introduces a quieter, more formal portrait. The introduction gives the subscriber a way to connect the visual choices to her intended mood, while the separate video shows how those choices were made.

The portrait story and design video are included together in the monthly membership. Two sample images and a two-minute video excerpt preview each release; the complete set and video are available while membership is active. A pair of prints costs $18 separately and is not required to view the included releases.

Pulenaz: follow the light and the edit

Pulenaz’s $9-per-month Slow Days membership takes a more everyday approach. Home Light, a 22-minute video in the included Slow Days series, follows the choice of a window, clothing and frontal light for an indoor shoot, then closes with a spoken debrief. The window and gentle frontal light make the room feel open and conversational rather than theatrical.

The included Window Seat photo stories offer another view of the process. Home Table pairs a 12-image story with a 600-word journal about the fabrics and window setting; its six-frame contact sheet shows the image selection. Each Window Seat story also has a note explaining why final images were chosen. Members can vote between two settings for a later story and submit creative questions; a monthly recorded recap answers a selection, without promising a personal reply.

Slow Days includes three monthly releases across video, photo story and recorded conversation. It is useful for seeing a shoot unfold and then examining a selection; the photo stories are accompanied by written journals, so they should not be mistaken for a spoken introduction to every set.

Which approach fits?

Choose Savannah for the clearest pairing of a spoken mood introduction, design video and finished portrait set in each Room in Red release. Choose Pulenaz for a relaxed indoor shoot, an ordered photo story and the chance to inspect the choices behind its final images. Both memberships provide access to their included archives while active; neither includes downloads.
