Summary
A change in a pan or in a network can change what a device does. Comparing one condition at a time helps turn a baffling result into a useful next step.

The pan that will not heat
Pulenaz puts a pan of water on an induction cooktop, but the zone flashes instead of warming it. A different pan works on the same zone. Renae DuHaime asks her to compare the bottoms rather than repeatedly pressing the controls: a small magnet sticks to the working pan but not to the bottom of the other.
In an induction cooktop, a coil below the glass creates a changing magnetic field that produces currents in suitable cookware; the pan itself becomes the source of heat. Whirlpool notes that a cooktop may fail to recognize a pan when its base is mostly nonmagnetic. A magnet is a useful first check of the base.

Pulenaz chooses the compatible pan for her water and checks the appliance’s guidance for suitable cookware. The comparison points to a difference between these pans; it does not prove that every flashing indicator has the same cause. If the compatible pan also stops being recognized, she has a useful detail to give the appliance maker or repairer.
A game of “will it still work?”
Simone Giertz and Pulenaz turn the next question into a video guessing game. They keep the gadgets, router and home network powered but disconnect the internet connection. Before touching anything, Pulenaz writes two guesses: will the digital photo frame still show a picture, and will the smart speaker answer a request for tomorrow’s weather?
The frame in their setup continues showing photos already saved on it, but a request for a new online album does not load. The speaker’s weather request fails too. Simone asks Pulenaz to try a button on the frame rather than repeatedly asking the speaker louder; the saved pictures remain available without a fresh download.
Google explains that an internet-provider outage can leave a home Wi-Fi network running while connected Nest products cannot reach the internet. A device being connected to the local network and a device reaching an outside service are separate parts of the path.

Reconnect and make the result useful
When they reconnect, the new album loads and the speaker answers the weather request. Pulenaz changes her note from “the frame works offline” to the more useful “saved photos worked; a new online album did not.” That distinction tells her what she can still do with this frame during the next outage.
For the weather, she keeps a nonconnected alternative nearby: a written forecast checked in advance when she needs one. The video ends with Simone revealing that Pulenaz guessed the frame would go completely blank. The wrong guess is the point of the game: it made them try both a saved item and an online request instead of treating the gadget as simply working or broken.
