1. Pulenaz: a complete short walk
Pulenaz’s 3 km woodland loop climbs about 60 m and takes 1 hour 15 minutes including pauses. She stops in a clearing to look back through the trees, then follows the loop home instead of adding another viewpoint. The short outing has a clear destination and a different return stretch.
For a different short day ending at an arranged pickup, she cuts an overnight bag from 6.2 kg to 3.8 kg, including bag, food and water. She removes spare shoes, clothes and toiletries, and replaces a large meal container with a compact lunch. She retains water, a light layer and rainwear. The arranged pickup ends the shorter day, so she no longer needs the overnight change of clothes and toiletries on that walk.
2. Miranda: a longer hill day
Miranda Goes Outside’s 8 km hill out-and-back gains about 320 m and takes 3 hours 20 minutes including stops. She pauses at a stream and for a hillside snack, and shows the valley again on the descent. It is a better choice than the shorter Pulenaz loop when the viewer wants to follow a longer trail day.
Miranda describes her work as sharing hiking, backpacking and camping.

On a separate short hike she takes a secondhand day pack after cleaning it and replacing a damaged buckle. She carries lunch and a layer, then checks that the closure stayed fastened. That sequence makes the repair and the subsequent use easy to follow.
3. Dixie: following a journey over days
Jessica “Dixie” Mills’s long trail diary follows the repeated work of walking, pitching a shelter and repacking for the next day. After several days she stops in town to restock and returns to the trail. The pleasure is in watching routines develop rather than seeing a single highlight.
In a 2015 Appalachian Trail update, Mills describes walking from Hot Springs to Erwin with companions, crossing Big Bald and reaching town after a long day. The account connects the trail, the group and the practical stop in town.

4. Kathryn: a day organized around short legs
Kathryn Frazer’s waterfront day begins with a vehicle drop-off near the promenade. The route has a 100 m leg to a bench, 150 m to a waterside cafe and 100 m to the pickup, about 350 m in total. Watching boats and sitting at the cafe give each stop a purpose.
This is a different sort of walking day from Miranda’s hill route: the length of each leg and time at the stops matter more than ascent. Kathryn is a useful choice when the viewer wants to see how transport, rest and a place to visit can fit together.
5. Julie: a city crossed on foot
Julie Falconer walks east across London from Uxbridge to Upminster, passing Ealing, Shepherd’s Bush, Westminster, Stratford and Romford. Her conversation follows the change from residential streets to shopping areas and the center, then back toward the outer neighborhoods. The long crossing shows how places normally approached separately connect.
For a shorter route, Julie’s published London walking map brings together self-guided walks including Notting Hill, Hampstead and Chelsea.
